It was the perfect place for us to decompress and enjoy the beauty of Downeast Maine.
HollyBrook Cottage exceeded all of my expectations. Staying in this lovely cottage was a "soul soothing" experience. Everything I needed was there and if I did need something, my incredible host provided it immediately. The area was peaceful and beautiful, and the home was comfortable, safe, and very nicely furnished with great linens, cookware, appliances, and supplies. I loved being there and am so grateful for the experience!
This cottage is such a special place that you will already be planning your next visit as you are checking out. The cottage is located in a very quiet neighborhood stretching past an old quarry and along stunning Blue Hill Bay. The only sounds you will hear during your stay are of nature and possibly a distant rooster crowing. The nights on this isolated part of the bay are dark but brightly starlit. The house was well appointed with the essentials and was very charming and clean. With the cool breeze wafting in through open windows at night and the very comfortable beds, we slept soundly and restfully during our stay. The early sunrise in the summer will likely wake you early to a fresh clear Maine morning and you will enjoy the glistening morning light on the Bay as you have your morning coffee. The owners of the cottage live next door and are available for any needs you have during your stay. They showed as such warm hospitality and we welcomed hearing of the history of the quarry and the lobstering trade in the Bay. Even though we would have been very content to just enjoy the peace and quiet of the cottage and taking walks along the Bay, there is so much to see and do around Blue Hill. The hosts have prepared an excellent booklet of sights and attractions in the area, including all the charming communities of Blue Hill Peninsula (don't miss Sandy's in Blue Hill, the General Store in Brooklin and Pugnuts Ice Cream Shop in Surry) but also nearby Acadia National Park, Deer Isle/Stonington, and Schoodic Peninsula. This was a special week for my wife and I after we joined our son for his final leg of the Appalachian Trail. It was the perfect place to wind down after his long trek and our challenging climb of Mt. Katahdin with him. Next time we are coming for longer and look forward to seeing our new friends again. Thanks for an amazing time in Maine. We will be back.
Great location, off the main road, near the sea, and a few minutes from the hustle of sleepy sea side town of Blue Hill and many other attractions - hiking, shopping, sailing, dining. You can expect a clean, comfortable cottage with all the amenities and comforts of home.
Perfect getaway for my husband and I! Beautiful and serene cottage with every amenity for our Maine retreat. We can’t wait to return!
Our stay at Hollybrook Cottage was exactly what we needed and where we needed it. It is serene, removed and beautiful. The owners next door are incredibly hospitable, available and friendly but we wouldn't have even known they were they most of the time. The cottage itself maintained its Maine rusticity while offering all of the appointments necessary to make our week effortless. While the area is an adventure seekers paradise, most of time we didn't want to leave Hollybrook and we always looked forward to returning. Blue Hill , just minutes away, is a quaint coastal New England town with everything we needed but without the noise and summer traffic of other nearby vacation destinations. Can't wait to return !
We had a great week at the cottage. Cool breezes and the smell of salty air made this a great spot. While there’s not beach access the views and walks around the neighborhood were enough to enjoy the beauty of the bay. The remote location make this a perfect get away and very relaxing. No wifi is honestly a gift and there is wifi a short drive away in town if you need it. Hosts (and their pups) were very welcoming. Highly recommended for a peaceful week away.
Thank you Jaime! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay!
