Pretty much every room has a direct view of the ocean. The place is very charming and right on the water. I could even hear the waves one evening with my windows open. The beach is a great place to walk. The kitchen had everything I needed. The cottage was clean and well taken care of. The setting and views are amazing. The owner was very nice and I'm glad I got to meet her. I hope to stay again in the future.
This cottage is just right for us...it is private, with water and beach access, very comfortable with everything we need. We spent many hours on the screened in porch with our binoculars. It is in a good location to explore, but we are very happy staying put too! The owner is lovely and helpful!
Our family has been coming to this area of Maine for several summers and this is our favorite place we’ve stayed so far - spacious, airy and full of light, open to breezes from the water, with a wonderful screened porch and easy access to the bay for cold but delightful swims. This feels like a cottage that has been well-loved, and we enjoyed reading about its history in the notes the owner provided. We also enjoyed meeting the owner, who greeted us warmly and made our family feel welcome. We look forward to returning.
This is a truly beautiful spot with amazing views of the water and shore access. The owners are very nice and accommodating. The house is somewhat rustic but is very clean and has everything you will need for a pleasant and comfortable stay. We had a power outage while we were there and found out there is a backup generator-much appreciated! Note that there is a grassy slope to walk down to the house that might be a problem for someone with access issues.
Periwinkle is a charming cottage, in a beautiful setting. Greatly enjoyed the screened porch. We hope to return!
We love Periwinkle and have returned annually for the last 5 years. It's a simple cottage right on the water with outstanding views and oceanside walks right out the back door--all the way to Naskeag Point if you're so inclined. The furnishings are simple and lovely, the kitchen well-appointed. The owner lives in a larger house on the property and is not only completely responsive but a wonderful person. Highly recommended.
Periwinkle is a simple comfortable cottage with all the amenities that we wanted....beautiful sunrise views and walks on the beach. Place to launch our kayaks, lots of bird life. We spent a lot of time on the screen porch too!
Thank you Lee and Dan for your nice review. We're glad you liked the the cottage and are returning next year. We hope Bella enjoyed her stay also. Best wishes, Brenda and Chelsea
We had a fun and relaxing time at Periwinkle Cottage! We love the Brooklin area and enjoyed the quiet, lovely setting. The cottage had everything we needed and more. We hope to stay here in the future!
Hi Ellen, Thank you for your review and for choosing Periwinkle Cottage. We're happy you enjoyed your stay and we'd love to host you again! All the best, Brenda and Chelsea
This cottage and the beach on which it is situated are breathtakingly beautiful. We immensely enjoyed the tranquility, the exquisite and simple aesthetic of the cottage, the privacy and length of the beach for walking at low tide, the coastal birds, and the time we had to relax. If I were to return I would do a few things differently: I would bring water shoes for walking on the beach and in the low tide, a mosquito head net, and a sun hat. I would also ask the owner to let me know when they expect the mowers to come so that I would be sure not to be doing some thing like meditating when they arrive. They arrived on huge lawnmowers and although they finished their business in quick order it was still a bit shocking to the nervous system. Overall, this was one of the best experiences I have had with Airbnb.
