It was the perfect place for our young and old...

The photos don’t do this place justice. So lovely and inviting. We even saw deer in the yard. The road can be noisy and not great for walking, but everything else was amazing. Hope to return.

We had a very comfortable stay!

This home was very comfortable for 6 adults and two children. We enjoyed the deck as well as the living room. All we needed was provided.

This is the perfect house for a family trip...

This is the perfect house for a family trip. There is plenty of space for everyone. The large master bedroom is separate from the other rooms and has a slider out to the deck. The home is well equipped with anything you might need. The one time we needed something that wasn't there, the host dropped it off at the house within a couple of hours! The only negative is it is on a busy road, so it was noisy in the morning on the deck. In the evening on the deck you can see all the stars on a clear night!

We had a lovely stay. So happy to find a beautiful home that is dog friendly. The place was clean, kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked . Chelsea and Brenda were very responsive and informative. Have zero complaints. The place is super close to a lovely cafe ( Humblebee Cafe ) and the coolest ice pop place (The Blue Chill). Would love to come back and stay there again.

This was the cleanest airbnb I’ve ever been in. Kitchen was stocked, bathrooms had ample towels, and the living room was so cozy.

Perfect stay in Blue Hill at "The Maine Idea"

This home is lovely! Dog friendly - which for us was a plus! The Maine Idea is very clean and thoughtfully planned out for guests. There is ample lighting both overhead as well as there are lamps placed throughout the house for both function and ambiance. The decor was quaint/cabin/chic lots of different great room furnishing s for a family to enjoy - all arranged well and comfortable . We only used the downstairs as there were only two of us. The king size bed was soft with quality clean bedding. Bath linens were fluffy and clean. There was ample outdoor lighting too which was helpful upon arriving late at night. There was a short fence in the front of the house that was secure enough for well-behaved / voice command trained dogs but would be a little less secure for those who aren't, as the house is situated on a busy roadway. There is a roomy deck on the back side of the house with a doggie gate to keep your pet safely contained there! This house had all that guests would need during a stay in Maine! Brenda and Chelsea are excellent communicators and have a super quick and effective response time! I believe they would do anything within their reach to make your stay go smoothly! They were a great resource for all things local, too! I highly recommend Arborvine and Bucklyn Coffee. The Blue Hill Co-op is a MUST for shopping organics and of course for those of you who enjoy YOGA - please check out Rebecca Rose at the Wellness Sanctuary in the village. We did several trips from this location and thought the traveling times and distances were far greater than I expected, (this is of great importance with guests traveling with pets or small children) we were always excited to return to the house in Blue Hill! It was so homey and felt so good! Will try to return here in the future! Do not hesitate to snatch up this vacation home! Our sincere thanks to Chelsea and Brenda for your warm and caring hospitality during our stay. We found the house book of recommendations very helpful! Also, thank you so much for the coffee! It was delicious! Our pup wishes to thank you for your kindness and generosity in welcoming her to the house with a bowl of fresh water and a bag of yummy treats! She was a very good girl and loved her stay too!

Beautiful home in a perfect location!

This beautiful home was perfect for our week in Maine! Our previously schedule vacation home reservation was cancelled at the last minute and Blue Hill Bay Property Rentals was recommended via a FB group. They responded to our initial query almost immediately and recommend this home for our stay. This home was much nicer than what we had originally booked. Our expectations were exceeded with the home, amenities and proximity to everything we wanted to do. Within 1 hour of Acadia, Belfast, Bangor, etc. It was the perfect base camp. We even asked to stay a couple of extra days, which was so appreciated. We have only positive things to say about this home, location and the Blue Hill Bay Property Rental team.

Where to even begin! From initially choosing & booking The Maine Idea all the way through the end of our stay, we can’t say enough good things about the place & the hosts! This spot was perfect for our family vacation; clean, comfy, beautifully decorated, and had everything you could need. The fenced in front area was perfect for our dogs (we loved that Brenda & Chelsea are dog people!). The proximity to downtown as well as the ease of getting to places like Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, & Acadia made the location great for us. Brenda and Chelsea are truly spectacular hosts - communicative, accommodating, friendly, and eager to share knowledge of the area. We felt so welcome and it was super easy to chat with them if we ever needed anything. Also, both the pre-check in email as well as the info binder provided at the house were incredibly thorough and really helped us throughout our stay. We took many recommendation suggestions & all were excellent.Highly recommend!!
